Is Google Glass dead?
Google ended Glass Enterprise Edition sales on March 15, 2023, and support on September 15, 2023. The retirement included the enterprise product, not just the earlier consumer experiment.
That did not automatically disable devices already in use. Google’s retirement announcement said owners could continue using their hardware and existing software, but no further Google software updates were planned. Meet on Glass also lost support, and Google warned that the app could stop working after the support deadline.
What did Google Glass offer?
Glass Enterprise Edition brought hands-free information to workplace tasks. Workers could read checklists, follow instructions and capture photos or video while keeping their hands available. Google described uses in logistics, manufacturing and field services.
Google introduced Glass Enterprise Edition 2 in May 2019, with a faster processor, an improved camera and USB-C charging. Its Android foundation let businesses build and manage applications for specific jobs.
